History
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
The Dark Moon resides in the sky of Evershade Valley, and it has the ability to keep all the ghosts that live in Evershade Valley in a peaceful environment. Knowing this, E. Gadd used this opportunity to study his work with several Greenies. However, King Boo appears and uses the power of his crown to break the moon into six pieces, which covers all of Evershade Valley in a mysterious purple fog, and turning the ghosts aggressive and losing their pupils, forcing E. Gadd to flee the Gloomy Manor, and calls Luigi to help him out once again. Upon evacuating the manor, E. Gadd has managed to obtain a piece of the Dark Moon, but has been corrupted by some energy which disrupts the Dark Moon's ability to pacify ghosts. Which each piece obtained, E. Gadd uses a record scratcher with brushes built in, to scrub the corrupting energy of the Dark Moon piece. This also clears away the fog blocking each mansion. The other five Dark Moon pieces are guarded by Possessors in each mansion. After Luigi collects the final Dark Moon piece from the Tough Possessor though, only the Dark Moon piece makes it back to the Bunker after he is being pixelated, and King Boo drags Luigi into his own illusion. After Luigi defeats King Boo, returns to his dimension and frees Mario from his painting, he and the Toads reunite the Dark Moon pieces back together, returning the ghosts back to their friendly selves and regaining their sanity, as well as their pupils.
Luigi's Mansion 3
In Luigi's Mansion 3, on the 15F - Master Suite, a diorama of the Gloomy Manor with the Dark Moon above it can be seen. It can only be examined once, and during the time it is examined, a Golden Goob appears and scares Luigi. When King Boo is stunned in his battle, purple moons daze around his head, which heavily resemble the Dark Moon.
